Wanderlust Inspiration by Kris Berc

Hi, Blue Fern Studios fans! It's Kris here to share my August projects with you.  I have three layouts using the new Wanderlust collection to show you today...oh how I adore the colors and patterns in this collection!

I Think You're Wonderful

I started with the gorgeous Wanderlust Ocean Voyage paper and prepped it with clear gesso.  I couldn't resist coloring the paper with yellow spray inks to match those beautiful, vibrant yellow flowers in the Wanderlust Vine! I then applied modeling paste through a stencil and some black stamping here and there with the new Travel Time stamp.

I treated the title chipboard piece with two embossing powders: Summer Breeze and Starry Night.

I used the same treatment on the Garden Lattice Bits chipboard.

I tucked a Wanderlust printed chipboard piece in at the bottom right of the photo, then layered on a Wanderlust Vine, a Wanderlust Lily, and a white rose from the Happy Roses set.

For my second layout, I started with the gorgeous Wanderlust Mountain View paper. This time I was inspired by the blue pool water in my photo to add various colors of blue spray ink.  I then applied modeling paste through a stencil and some random stamping in black with the new Departure stamp.

I embossed the Happiness chipboard piece with Ebony embossing powder.  I embossed the sides of the Natural Frame chipboard piece with Hot Cocoa embossing powder, and then embossed the foliage areas of it with Avocado embossing powder.

My flower clusters include yellow and blue Wanderlust Lilies, a blue lily from the Dark Tropic Lilies set, and yellow blooms from the Spring Florals set.

Below is a closer look at the Avocado embossing powder...isn't it lovely?!

I changed things up a bit for my third layout and focused more on the Wanderlust collection's neutral tones.  I started with the B-side of a piece Wanderlust Calling Cards paper and then layered strips of Wanderlust Pacific Coast paper (both sides) horizontally.  After a treatment of clear gesso, I painted the paper a bit with tan and brown spray inks, followed by stamping here and there in black with the new Dispatch stamp.

I embossed the "this Moment" chipboard piece with Mushroom embossing powder and then grunged it up a bit.  Above the chipboard piece, you can see some of the new Ivory Braided Trim.

The Swallow Border chipboard piece is another new item!  I treated it with Mushroom embossing powder and then added some Speckled Mint embossing powder in random areas.  It's layered on top of some of the new Ivory Venise Lace and topped with a Wanderlust Lily.

The Fern Leaves chipboard pieces are new, too! I treated two of them with the new Avocado embossing powder and tucked them into my embellishment clusters.

October Inspiration with Cathi

This month I wanted to do some more autumn themed layouts, because, well, I am in love with the autumn season, the colors, the leaves, everything... And of course I love the Blue Fern Studios Autumn Anthology and knew it needed to be used for this season!!

My first layout features my eldest Aine a few years back with an autumnal backdrop. Her red hair is always great for autumn layouts too!! For the base of the layout I used the gorgeous Penmanship paper. I just love the illustrations, a mixture of gorgeous fall flowers and mushrooms and fountain pens and vintage illustrations!  I always find the Calling Cards cutouts perfect for layering under my photos and the back side of the calling cards was just as gorgeous as the cut out images.

Here you can see the I Think You're Wonderful and Circle Flourish- Small chipboards embossed in the Tangerine Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

I chose some beautiful peach colored Attic Charm Daisies and Courtship Blooms in dark brown to add to my layout. In the background you can see the splashes of ink and stamping I added to the layout using the Halftone stamp set, the Making Plans Stamp and the Essential Textures stamp set. I love the extra depth and texture stamping can give.

In my final photo here you can see the Turkish Bits chipboard I tucked in under the photo cluster. I used the gorgeous Amethyst Imagine Ink Embossing Powder to add a gorgeous color to it.

I went for a mix of modern and vintage for this layout. I had this great photo of my girls and some friends from years back and there are some adorable smiles in this photo, so of course it had to have the Million Dollar Smile as it title!  The paper I used here for the base is the flip side of the same paper above, Penmanship. I loved both sides so had to use both my papers this time!!

Here you can see I used the Million Dollar Smile for the title of my layout, embossing it and the Captured arrow chipboard from the Picture Perfect set in the beautiful Sea Mist Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

Here you can see the Calling Cards cutouts I layered under the photo, as well as the splashing and stamping I did in the background using the Forever stamp set.  I cut a piece down from the smaller Film Strip chipboard set and embossed it in Melon Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

In my final photo for this layout you can see the big Film Strip accent I added again in the Melon Imagine Ink Embossing Powder, along with the beautiful orange Tranquil Bloom and aqua colored Spring Lily.

For my final layout I used the beautiful Timeless collection. The base paper is the beautiful Papillon paper. My eldest as you might have guessed from past months, loves to dance, so  it won't surprise you to see another photo of her and her friends in swan gear this time! Such a lovely photo captured, I just had to scrap it, my girl is the second from the right lol.

For the title of my page I used the Dreams Come True chipboard.  The photo is clustered yet again on the top of the always perfect Calling Cards cutouts used for layering behind the photo. Here you can see a good view of the mixed media background I did using mist splatters, watercolors, molding paste and masking and lots of stamps including the Making Plans, Forever and Essential Textures stamps.

The flowers I included in the layout are the Attic Charm Daisies, Courtship Blooms and Harvest Lilies, so beautiful!

In this photo you can see the Tattered Diamond Bits and Royal Monarch chipboard. The diamonds have been embossed in the Oatmeal Imagine Ink Embossing Powder while the butterfly has been embossed with the Cotton Candy Imagine Ink Embossing Powder and the edges have been additionally embossed in 14 Karat Imagine Ink Embossing Powder.

March Inspiration with Marilyn

Hi everyone! Marilyn here with you today to share two layouts and a video tutorial using the beautiful Courtship Lane collection and the new Courtship flowers by Blue Fern.

"I Think You're Wonderful" Layout
I made this dimensional background with two East Plaza papers from the  Courtship Lane collection and  you can see all the process in the video tutorial.

The Ruth Doily and the title chipboards were embossed with Pearl and Lilac embossing powders.

I put the chipboard title over a piece of cardboard and added the Courtship Blooms and Roses.

I painted the Chelsea Vines with distress ink.

I stamped with the Forever-stamp.

I hope you find some inspiration ...Enjoy the video tutorial!

 "Adorable"
For this page, I used the West Plaza and the Concert Hall papers from Courtship Lane collection.

I embossed the Gazebo chipboard with Pearl embossing powder.

The Adorable (title) and the Whimsy Flourish chipboards were embossed with Iris  embossing powder.

The final touch,  these Courtship blossom and roses that coordinates perfectly with these papers.

Thanks you so much for stopping by....until next time!

Three layouts with the Serendipity and Courtship Lane collections by Marie-Josee

Hello, Blue Fern Studios fans!

Today, I will show you three layouts I created with the latest Blue Fern Studios collections, Courtship Lane and Serendipty. Here they are.

"Memory of Yesterday" layout

For this layout featuring my grandmother in 1936, I used various papers of the Courtship Lane collection.

I used the Brocade Texture stamp and Blue Fern Studios embossing powders (Lilac and Iris) to add texture and details to my background.

I also used the Arcadia Textures stamp with brown ink in the top right corner and the bottom left corner.

For my title, I used the word "Yesterday" from the Today, Tomorrow, Yesterday chipboard set. I also used pieces of the Garden Lattice Bits set.

"I Think You're Wonderful" layout

For this layout, I used the Serendipity collection.

I embossed all the chipboards I used (I Think You're Wonderful and Whimsy Flourishes) with Blue Fern Studios embossing powders. I started with the lightest color, Sea Mist. Then I added more embossing ink and sprinkled a bit of Blue Sky embossing powder and heated it.

I also used the Brocade stamp with the Sea Mist embossing powder on my background.

"Become your best you" layout

For this layout, I used the Courtship Lane collection and the brand new Blue Fern Studios flowers, which match the Courship Lane collection.

The chipboards I used are the Circle Flourish - Small and the Gatsby Collage. I cut the Gatsby collage in two pieces and put each one under the Circle Flourish.

I also used a stamp from the Shabby Edges stamp set.
