Back to my roots with Eila Sandberg

Hello - Eila here! Lovely to see you again! Thank you so very much to each and everyone who took part in the Blue Fern Studios Blog Hop 8 - 10 February 2013!! Hope you had a really great time hopping along, I sure did! The name of the lucky winner of the Blue Fern Studios Grand Prize will soon be revealed.

Today I'm sharing two pages with you that both take me back to my roots; I'm Finnish by birth and Swedish by upbringing.

Here is my first page.

"Rust" - layout

I know a Finnish photographer whose photos I am allowed to use for my scrapping. She has a wonderful way of capturing little scenes of Finnish rural life, of people and little things that make the Finn in me come alive with many many memories of the countrysides where my mother and father grew up and where I spent all of my childhood summers.

The flourishes were first misted in Gold and Olive Vine before I chalked them in Olive Pastel, Dark Moss, Amber Clay and Pumpkin Spice. Love the rich hues and how beautifully the darker shades accentuate the fine curves of the flourish.

I cut the Country Fence in two and painted it in white acrylic paint before stamping it in red script.

"Origins" - layout

If the photo of the tractor is quintessentially Finnish to me, this photo of a red wooden house is equally very Swedish to me. You find these houses in the countryside, always with lush lilac bushes and granny flowers in the flower beds. Often with white ginger bread work lovingly carved by someone a hundred or more years ago.

I am very much into using gold at the moment so of course the scrummy Organic Vine Corners with their intricately cut pattern had to have some of it too. In addition to dousing the chipboard pieces in  gold glimmer mist, I also misted them in Cranberry Zing, Wild Currant and Black Cherry. Makes any chipboard sing with lush opulence!

A Moment In Time With Blue Fern

Hello scrappy friends! Svetlana is here to share with you some more of Blue Fern goodness.
Do you enjoy all the inspiration from our designers? I hope so. On our side, we surely enjoy working with all the amazing chipboard designs Blue Fern Studios bring on.

My first project for today is a layout I created with some cute photos of my son.

"A Moment In Time" Layout

I used a packaging paper from Blue Fern chipboard as a base of my layout. Those papers have very pretty design on it and you surely will not want to thorough it away!
I used A Moment In Time phrase piece, Twiggy Branch and a bird from Icons Set One.

To decorate my chipboard, first I primed it with gesso. After that I covered it with crackle paint. To be honest I wasn't after the cracks, I just wanted this particular color. Next I added some red glitter glue and a layer of glossy accent to the bird and the title. The branch I left in matte. I darkened it a bit with some black ink.

My second project is an altered 3D frame.

Here I used Country Picket Fence and Organic Vine Corner.
I covered the fence with dark brown ink and then added some more black ink here and there. After that I covered it with a layer of glossy accent.

I cut the vine in half to create 2 beautiful flourishes. I inked it in the same way I did with the fence. I sprayed some Perfect Pearls over it to add a little bit of green shimmer. I finished it with a layer of glossy accent.
I think that it is very easy but effective way to dress your chipboard.

A Few of my Favorite Things - By Kelly

Hi everyone!! Kelly here today. Welcome back to the Blue Fern Studios blog, so glad you stopped by!! I have been creating up a storm with Blue Fern chipboard, and am excited to share a couple of my projects with you!!
A Perfect Day

The Floral Clock was altered with multiple layers of Tattered Angels mists, gesso, Inka Gold, stamping, and white gel pen. It was all one big experiment, really, I just kept adding things until I achieved the look I wanted. I topped it off with one of the Ornate Medallions and a bit of bling.

Here I used one of the Brigitte Butterflies. I primed it with gesso, then stamped with a Prima  stamp, then inked the edges with black chalk ink. A few black rhinestones were added then to the butterfly's body.

You Look Lovely Today

The lovely Blooming Flourish piece is one of my favorites! I first primed this one with gesso, then simply doodled on it with a fine point Sharpie.

Up next, I used the pack of Nested Circles, which were also first painted with gesso, then given a bit of a golden sheen once again using the Inka Gold, a fabulous product from Viva Decor..a favorite medium for me to use on chipboard. I outlined a bit in black pen on some of them circles, as well.

Below you can see the other section of the Blooming Flourish, which I had cut in half.

Butterflies and Vines!!

Welcome back to the Blue Fern Studios Blog. Hi, it's me, Lisa Gregory...Today is my turn to feature some new inspiration for you all and my blog post features 3 of the beautiful Blue Fern chip board designs.

The first layout  features the  Brigitte Butterfly Set. The set has 3 butterflies. One large and 2 smaller ones.  I chose to use all 3 butterflies on 1 layout. But 1 butterfly would look equally as sweet on a card or tag.

Here is a closeup of one of the butterflies. The technique I used on the butterfly was pretty easy. I painted the chip board with a white acrylic paint and let it dry. Then I spread some Puffy Paint over the painted surface. While the paint was still wet, I sprayed some Glimmer Mist over the area lightly. After waiting about 30 minutes, I heat set the piece  until the paint started to puff up. Once it was dry, I sprayed it with some more Glimmer Mist. I added pearls to create the body.

I used the Blooming Beauty chip board piece for my title. I painted it using Lumiere paint using 2 coats.

For my next layout, I used the gorgeous Organic Vine Corner.

I painted the piece with a beige colored  acrylic paint and let it dry. I then took an ink pad in green and brushed over the leafy parts of the flourish. Then I took some tiny pearls and randomly placed them on the chip board.

To make the piece stand out even more, I went over it with some Stickles.

Thank you for stopping by to see my work with Blue Fern Studios wonderful product!! Keep watching as this brand new company keeps adding to their inventory. You are going to fall in love with Blue Fern Studios chip board!!

Borders, flourishes and a heart

Hi there! I'm Irina Gerschuk and I'm super excited to be the part of Blue Fern Studios!
Thanks Leslie for inviting me to this awesome Design Team!

Well, let me introduce myself. I live in Moscow, the capitаl of Russia. I'm 28. I'm married for almost five years now and have two little kids. They are my bless and sure my greatest inspiration. I have a master degree at Computational Mathematics and Cybernetics. Love animals, classic and rock music, sea and a cup of a hot tea in the evening.
I have being scrapping for almost 2 years and it seems to be the hobby of my life))))
My favorite type of paper crafting project are cards, but I also create LO and altered projects.

Today I'd like to share with you my new project. It's a shabby card.

Chipboard is one of my favorite scrap-embellishment and I use it almost in every project. To create this card I used four different pieces of BFS. I covered all of them with white embossing powder. The designs are so soft and elegant that I decided it would be just enough to show all of its beauty. Organic Vine Corner and Tuscan Window seemed too big for my project so I used only a part from them.

And here are some close-ups:
